Review by Dan Barry of the Hartford Advocate
The December 7, 2007 issue of the Hartford Advocate includes a review of The Hartt School's semi-annual Public Works Concert. Dan Barry writes:
"...Likewise, Jessica Rudman trafficked in questions of the heart, though the pieces from her Suite for Alto Sax, Bass Trombone, Viola, and Cello were less like a story and more like a simulcast. At any one moment, themes of inner turmoil would compete with numbness for airtime, evoking complexity where many of her peers were simply bipolar. Rudman’s rigorous sonic palette was capable of rendering ideas like the joy of transgression and recklessness as a distraction from loneliness. She only previewed the first three pieces of the six-piece suite; I’m looking forward to the second half."
