I began writing Glimpses after my piano teacher requested that I compose a piece to play on a recital the following year.  The work thus was designed with my own playing abilities in mind; in other words, it was written to be challenging but within reach for someone with limited piano skills.  Most of the movements are inspired by pieces that I have played.
